The future is on the Cutting Edge. its no longer 50 years away, its now. Is it even possible to comprehend? Could we actually power veichles without fossil fuels? Could we drive that car of our on water?
YES. simple as that.
introducing the latest car to run on Hydrogen. The Honda FCX. now think ... this has been around since the 80s, developed to this level since 2002, why is this not main stream news?
The only emission that the FCX produces is water vapor. That's because a revolutionary technology allows the FCX to power its motor with electricity generated from a hydrogen-oxygen chemical reaction. With a maximum output of 80 horsepower and 201 Lb.-ft. of torque, the FCX has responsive acceleration that is ideal for city driving.
In July 2002, Honda's FCX was certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB), making it the first and only fuel cell car in history to be approved for commercial use. CARB and the EPA have also certified the FCX as a Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV), Tier-2 Bin 1. !
The FCX Concept boasts an energy efficiency number of about 60 percent. This means that 60 percent of the energy produced by the fuel cell makes it to the FCX's wheels!. By comparison, gasoline-only-powered cars have an energy efficiency of about 20 percent while gas/electric hybrids are slightly better at around 30 percent.
There will be a financial cost to change, but isn't that cost worth our lives? our futures? our childrens futures. Well we can tell that you were watching the formula one on sunday! :)
Nice to see that some of the big companies are trying to do something.
I'm going to start calling you Dr Phil or should i say Dr Shaun lol
HA!
PHD in Rightbrainoptimism :)
it is great to see the major companys bringing this technology out towards a more mainstream market. funny how the energy companies wont touch such a thing. we all know why. more importantly i think it was fantastic for Honda to advertise the FCX during the Grand Prix. makes people realise this technology is real, production by 2008 i heard.
*writes perscription*
see what Coast 2 Coast does to my brain :) take one daily and repeat.
Interesting to see how the man in the street is conned into doing the green thing while industry just keeps making a dollar. Excuse me for being so cynical but I wonder how many kilowatts it took to make just one of these wonderful machines ? How much carbon was pumped out to make this green machine? Considering Industry consumes 70/80 % of the electrical power grid and us little 40 Watt globe users use 10%!!?? The biggest contributor to the carbon pollution is our power stations. Am I L or R brained or just plain dumb?
I will make this pledge in front of all right brained thinkers, “ When industry cuts their pollution by half I will reduce my pollution by 90%” !!! “I won’t be fooled again”
The next thing they will do is put the price of water up under the pretext that by doing so they will cause the population to reduce their consumption. Why the hell does the government need more money, it’s already billions of dollars in the black, why isn’t it spending our accumulated taxes on a pipe line from Argyle and more efficient catchment systems instead of the water going out to sea, and and and…where’s my soap box? Guess who is the greatest user of water yep you got it Industry, and they get a discount, wait for it, because……..they consume greater quantities!! “I won’t be fooled again” I will leave you with one question, “Who do you think tells our Pollies how to run the country” and I’m not a conspiracy theorist. “I won’t be fooled again”
With that I will leave you with the lyrics of a song written by Zager And Evans
in 1969 that at the time was so far ahead of its time. I remember listening to it for the first time while on guard duty at Binga on the Zambezi.
In The Year 2525
In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may find
In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lie
Everything you think, do and say
Is in the pill you took today
In the year 4545
You ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes
You won't find a thing to chew
Nobody's gonna look at you
In the year 5555
Your arms hangin' limp at your sides
Your legs got nothin' to do
Some machine's doin' that for you
In the year 6565
You won't need no husband, won't need no wife
You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too
From the bottom of a long glass tube
In the year 7510
If God's a-coming, He oughta make it by then
Maybe He'll look around Himself and say
"Guess it's time for the judgement day"
In the year 8510
God is gonna shake His mighty head
He'll either say "I'm pleased where man has been"
Or tear it down, and start again
In the year 9595
I'm kinda wonderin' if man is gonna be alive
He's taken everything this old earth can give
And he ain't put back nothing
Now it's been ten thousand years
Man has cried a billion tears
For what, he never knew
Now man's reign is through
But through eternal night
The twinkling of starlight
So very far away
powerful thoughts Miguel, this is the purpose of this forum blog. to think, energise and discuss. i didnt consider the industry factor upon posting the car news, i was blinded at the vision of this utopian car.
seems insanity will prevail eh? but like ive said before, im not done giving up just yet. beam me up scotty!
