BRIEF 03:
VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS PRACTICE 392
PROJECT BRIEF
CLIENT: Toy2r
MEDIA: 3D doll and product packaging

CLIENT: Toy2r

BACKGROUND: Toy2r is a Hong Kong based designer toy company. Their line of Qee dolls are an iconic presence in the vinyl toy market. Qee dolls are produced in a variety of figures including the Bear, Monkey, Cat, Dog and Toyer. These dolls are sold ‘blank’ (unpainted) in order to be customised by the consumer. In the tradition of designer toys these Qee figures have also been customised and produced in limited edition runs by prominent designers. Designer dolls or 'art toys' are growing in popularity both within the field of design and also the commercial market.

TARGET MARKET: Designer toys are not gender specific, nor are they targeted at a specific age group. However as they are typically more expensive than a regular action figure (a result of limited edition runs) they are sold as a collector’s item, not as a 'toy'. Often the designs will have an alternative styling and may not be suitable for children due to their content.

TASK: Toy2r are releasing a range of limited artist edition Qee dolls. Each artist involved is required to produce one customised figure (choose one from the selection of Qee dolls available - templates attached to brief). The design should be reflective of each artist's personal style. The product is a promotion for Toy2r, not a brand/label and as such no commercial logos should appear on the doll.

SUPPORT: Qee doll template supplied, visit www.toy2r.com for further information.

TONE OF VOICE: Subject to individual artist.

MADATORIES: Doll must include a 'signature' of the artist.

That second one there is Emon Mon, the first 8 inch I got to do the skin-job for.

When ya design for an 8 inch you also get to lay out and supply all the box artwork, and that can easily end up more exciting than decorating the toy itself.

Cheers!
