Hola ! to all and welcome back. been on pause for a bit, while i wrapped up the school year and completed my final year exhibition for Curtin University. all in all the year went swimmingly and seemed to just take off in speed towards the end, kinda crazy really. i almost feel as if i've been in a time warp and its now the end of 07. EEK!
anyway, thanks to all those who helped along the way, your assistance and time was hugely appreciated. thanks also to all who came by to view the work and to add their feedback. lastly thanks to the few who were interested in my work and are keen for more, you know how to contact me.
ok so what now i hear? much of the same really till 08. work now takes on a juggling process between consistant part time work and my freelance work. im currently up and running doing a job for "Creative Spaces" in Freo, on a 6 panel outdoor shelter, recognising Aboriginal settlement in the Bibra lakes area. Cheers to James for this. apart from that i just need more sleep as usual :)
last but not least .... while surfing through Flickr (yeh im addicted i'll admit it, now join in) i came across this guy who is a sculpter of raw recycled articles, combining them in new ways to form anything you can imagine, from dogs, robots, cars, and faces. check his work out, wouldnt it be cool to see the things he see's in the everyday ...

Are we closer than ever to capturing Bigfoot? this new string of images and information coming from Northwest Pennsylvania USA seems to say yes.
These images were obtained with a Bushnell trail camera in Northwest Pennsylvania on the evening of September 16, 2007 by R. Jacobs. Jacobs had placed the motion-sensing camera on a tree along a game trail in a remote forest area in order to photograph any deer that might be using the trail.
The area in the foreground was baited with a deer attractant mix and a mineral lick block. In the first image (the one with the bear cubs) the mineral lick block can be seen sitting on a large black plastic plate. One of the bear cubs is apparently licking or sniffing the mineral block.
Several minutes elapsed between the image of the bear cubs and the images showing the ape-like animal (see the time stamps in the lower right corner of the images).
The second image shows the ape-like animal from a rear-side angle, with its head obscured by its shoulders. In the third image the ape-like animal appears to be smelling the ground near where the deer attractant mix had been scattered. Several anthropologists and primate experts in the US and Canada are now looking at these photos. The ones who have offered initial impressions to the BFRO say the later two images do not show a bear, but rather a primate.
Could this be an acurate capture or another modern day Patterson Film. Either way its a change from all the news running around regarding 2008 Presidential races and invading 911 truthers. more on that one later. FULL ARTICLE: BFRO
Speed Limits are once again being reviewed in residential zones, for the alternative to switch from 50Kph to 30kph. This just goes beyond stupidity and infuriates me to no end ... putting it lightly, this is one more measure to enforce a law which will lead to easier penalty fine infringements being issued and more revenue to fill the pockets of those in high places. Don't be fooled, this isn't about saving Granma's as they cross the street, its about milking you for every cent you have ... and making it seem "legitimate"
SPEED limits on all urban streets should be reduced by a further 10kmh - to as low as 30kmh in busy pedestrian zones - to save hundreds from death or injury every year, road safety experts say. They also state it makes cities more pleasant, particularly for pedestrians and cyclists, without significantly affecting motorists' travel time. But the campaign has its critics in the Roads and Traffic Authority and the NRMA, both of which rejected any change to speed limits last week.
Jeffery Archer, of the Monash University Accident Research Centre, called on governments to follow the Swedish capital, Stockholm, where the limit on residential streets was reduced to 30kmh this year. Its slogan promoting the change is "Are you man enough to drive at 30kmh?" ..... come on you can't tell me we can all fall for that 12 year old mentality of are you "Man Enough". When exactly was the last time you ever heard of someone running down a pedestrian or killing someone in a crash in a residential zone? it just doesn't happen. not enough to warrant a limit of 30kph and more opportunities for fines and revenue raising.
Harold Scruby, of the Pedestrian Council of Australia, said reducing the speed limit was the only way to make cities vibrant. ..... HAHAA... ahhh excuse me while i choke. Is this guy serious? Here's a tip Harold, how's about you plant a few more trees around your urban landscape, now theres a "vibrant idea for ya"
Don't be fooled by this again people. Let's promote driver safety and education over simple speeding enforcements, that never change driver mentality, it only promotes them to get more aggressive when restricted behind traffic that co-operates. how about we teach people how to drive in the first place, and stop treating pedestrians like mindless road loitering cattle. i mean you cant even get out of 2nd gear @ 30kph .... whats next? no driving in residential zones between the hours of 6pm to 5am?
Just when you thought it was safe to walk the streets, Big Brother sticks another eye in the sky and your personal freedoms go out the window. this week reports are flooding in about new surveillance "dragonflies" being spotted during anti war protests in both New York and Washington. yep thats right .... robot dragonflies, small enough to fit on your finger tips, created by humans to watch the skys.
Vanessa Alarcon saw them while working at an antiwar rally in Lafayette Square last month. "I heard someone say, 'Oh my god, look at those,' " the college senior from New York recalled. "I look up and I'm like, 'What the hell is that?' They looked kind of like dragonflies or little helicopters. But I mean, those are not insects."
No agency admits to having deployed insect-size spy drones. But a number of U.S. government and private entities acknowledge they are trying. Some federally funded teams are even growing live insects with computer chips in them, with the goal of mounting spyware on their bodies and controlling their flight muscles remotely. The CIA was among the first to tackle the problem. The "insectothopter", developed by the agency's Office of Research and Development 30 years ago. ..... what the hell are they up to now? and who funds this.
"Uplifting Moments" hehe, Day One at the 2007 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, just 700 Hot Air Balloons, 100,000 people, and making its first appearance in the United States, the Darth Vader balloon. May the force be with you. The Balloon Fiesta is one of the most photographed events in the world. something cheerful for today.
The incredible has occured in the space of 24 hours in France, world cup 2007. England, a team beaten to a pulp by the South Africans in their pool match have come from no where to squash the flickering hopes of the gold army in Australia.
Then, as if time just took a shift to 99, France, came up against New Zealand once again and proved, with passion, heart and belief, anything is possible. coming back from a 13 / 3 half time margin the french truely rose to the occasion and the Kiwis flaked like old lead paint in the hot sun.
France will play England in an all-northern semi-final in Paris next Saturday, after dumping the favourites New Zealand out of the tournament 20-18 in Cardiff. but who do they truely have to thank? well lets just say a missed forward pass is all it takes to shift time and history. maybe it set from the start .... having to see the kiwis play in a grey tone strip, they were never ... All .. Black.
a pleasure to see competition and unknown results come to fruition. but that needs to stop with a Springbok victory. :) the green machine now have a different outline to face towards a world cup victory.
My headspace this morning, 4:30AM. killing the hours with UNI work. 4 weeks left.
BUSH: WARM MACHINE. I memorise the basics Making strange faces Tread slowly for i know There's a thousand miles to go Without blinking Gravitate spacewards find a home for the head from my basement No darkness ever left This is the night this is the sound here comes the warm machine Such a warm machine Feeling warm Some days are playful Making play faces But we will not let it through The darkness and the sense Of being born to lose This is the night this is the sound here comes the warm machine ...
Radiohead Shocks Record Industry With Free Download of New Album : "In Rainbows", telling fans that they can pay as much or as little as they want for the band's new album. Newly freed from the shackles of a recording industry contract, the famed UK band Radiohead has decided to buck the system and offer its new album "In Rainbows" directly to fans at whatever price they feel like paying.
The album will be available for download directly from its website beginning October 10th, and fans can choose to pay as little as 45 pence, about $1 USD, the credit card handling fee. It's their first release since 2003's "Hail to the Thief," the last album required under its recording contract with the EMI/Capitol records label
On its surface it may not sound like too big of a deal, I mean offering an album directly to consumers for download isn't exactly groundbreaking, but when you stop to consider that Radiohead is a big name talent with tons of album sales, fans, and music awards under their belt it really gives moment for pause and makes you realize that this is indeed a revolutionary development in the music industry.
Also, what's interesting to point out is that an artist only makes about $1 USD per each $16.98 USD retail album he sells right now anyways, and I'm certain many will opt to pay at least this much if not more. For all intents and purposes it's actually possible that they will make more money selling "In Rainbows" directly to consumers than they would have otherwise. It's hard to fathom that the record industry makes a big stink about how piracy leads to "starving artists" when it gives a measly dollar to them while it consumes the other sixteen. Day one of the revolution. The way we see hear and consume music has now changed forever, and begs the question, is it for the better or worse.
There were no laser blasts in the battle between believers and non-believers at a UFO conference in Alberta this weekend, but plenty of sharp words were fired between the two camps.
Stanton Friedman, a nuclear physicist who maintains that some UFOs are alien spacecraft, told nearly 200 delegates during the conference's opening lecture Friday night at the Telus World of Science in Edmonton that journalists and scientists are ignorant of the evidence supporting the fact that interstellar travellers have visited.
Friedman, who believes government covered up an alleged discovery of alien wreckage and bodies in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947, said that many eyewitnesses of UFOs are silenced by a "laughter curtain" and fear ridicule if they report their sightings.
But Jaymie Matthews, an associate professor of astronomy at the University if British Columbia, argued that while he and other scientists have spent years searching the universe for Earth-like planets that would support intelligent life, none have been discovered yet.
"As an astrophysicist, I want there to be aliens here," Matthews told the crowd in his own lecture that followed Friedman's. "I'm not convinced."
Delegates such as David Beatty, a commercial pilot, expressed disgust that believers get marginalized.
"I'm sick and tired of the press covering (UFOs) as just something drunks saw on a beach," Beatty said after hearing Friedman speak.
This week marks the begining of the APEC summit held in Australia, where Asia, Pacific world leaders come together for meetings regarding all things economic and trade. sadly this comes at the expense of an estimated $300 million for a week of .... meetings. Yup you guessed it, we are the ones paying for it. more absurdly is the state of fear surrounding Sydney at the moment that has led the city to be virtually "Fortressed" and shut down to accomodate a "safer environment for world leaders". barracaded out with steel fencing, police patroling the lines of defence, CCTV watching every corner .... are we in a police state yet people?
Police yesterday said they are not opposed to a march, planned for Saturday, but reject the protesters' planned route, which passes the U.S. Consulate in Sydney, but is several city blocks from the summit venue.
With Chinese President Hu Jintao and Russian President Vladimir Putin attending the APEC summit, protesters also plan to demonstrate against human rights abuses in China, nuclear proliferation and global warming.
Sydney Police : "Be aware of the mob rule mentality. Don't be enticed by those that would seek to have you get involved in an unlawful act," Scipione told a news conference. I wonder if those sentiments are echoed in a similar way in Police briefings? the coin flips both ways, and cops are human too. meaning that violent actions happen on both sides of the fence, from both parties, and sadly this is the only concern for our ailing media to cover. If only they looked around and saw how their rights have been shoved to the side, city closed off without public support, fear and intimidation tactics around ever "blue" street corner, they wouldnt need to resort to pumping up this protest wrestle match happening on Saturday.
Instead lets start asking the questions. Why are these people so important that our surrogate capital city in Sydney needs to be fenced off to its inhabitants? not keeping them in, but out of the city. What dont they want us to see or hear? How can we give away our rights and liberties to these minority authoritive forces who feel they are on the cutting edge of deeming what is "safe and unsafe" for us to see, hear or interact with?
Its almost like they seem to have feed us the "violent protests in Sydney" script before its even been filmed, in order to justify their means of creating a Berlin wall around the city. Its simple, feed the media the bullshit, the media then feeds it to us, we get scared about planned "violent youths" attacking people, we shut the doors and stay inside our comfortable four walls, we give in to the fear story. as Dubya would say ..... Mission Accomplished
Foo Fighters are an American rock band formed by musician Dave Grohl in 1995. The group is named after the World War II term "foo fighter", used to refer to mysterious aerial phenomena. "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" is the sixth album by the Foo Fighters, set for release on September 25, 2007. "The Pretender" is the first single released from the record and the expansive video is playing around the world as we speak.
The song starts with a mellow guitar intro but after about 30 seconds, it kicks into high gear and becomes a Foo Fighters classic. The sound is a mix of old and new, rocking as ever a lead single should be, its still not quite a creation from the "Colour and the Shape" years.
The video was directed by Sam Brown. It consists of the band performing the song in a large aircraft hanger, with a white floor and many halogen strip lights on the ceiling. Behind the band is a large red screen, which is thick and solid. The band is then faced by what appears to be a riot police officer, who stands behind a black line on the floor, around 30 feet or so from the band. As the song progresses, he is joined by more riot police officers, and a panning shot shows us that to his left, the numbers on the officers' vests descend all the way to "01".
During a quiet part late in the song, the video slows down as the officers charge at the band. Just as the band repeats the song's louder chorus, the view suddenly erupts in a torrent of red liquid, as the large red screen behind the band explodes, flushing away the enforcers.
Why am I posting this? yeh im a huge fan of the "Foos" but this song screams "Protest". Its almost as if, after hearing that their music was used without their consent during pro Republican / Bush rallies of the 2004 election year, Dave Grohl has woken up to the power the band holds and what difference they can make. being a huge supporter of Gore, his ethics and concerns, Dave is finally pissed off enough to make music reflecting this need to stand up against the system, and to get things back on track, environmentally, politically, and socially. The lyrics speak for themselves.
FOO FIGHTERS: THE PRETENDER Keep you in the dark You know they all pretend Keep you in the dark And so it all began
Send in your skeletons Sing as their bones go marching in... Again The need you buried deep The secrets that you keep are ever ready Are you ready? I'm finished making sense Done pleading ignorance That whole defense
What if I say I'm not like the others? What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays? You're the pretender What if I say I will never surrender?
I'm the voice inside your head You refuse to hear I'm the face that you have to face Mirrored in your stare I'm what's left, I'm what's right I'm the enemy I'm the hand that will take you down Bring you to your knees
So who are you? Yeah, who are you? Yeah, who are you?
psst. Foo Fighters are scheduled to return to Australia in DEC. mmm BDO? or will that be left to Rage Against The Machine? who knows, but with TOOL returning as well its gonna be a big summer. ahhhh back to work. Miguel, book me a room.
I tend to delve into all things "Right Brain". Using Graphic Design as a creative outlet and profession to stop myself from strapping my ass to a 100 foot Zeppelin, and circumnavigating the Earth.
G'day and Welcome. I like to think of this place out here in cyberspace as another form of communication and visual expression. My thoughts and activities will no doubt spill onto those screens in front of you with left of center zestyness. I hope each segment provides a little peak into another side.
