SBS TV tonight!

Prisoner 345
Documentary : SBS TV
The Cutting Edge
Time: Tuesday 13th, 8:30PM

On 15 December, 2001 Sami al-Hajj, a cameraman for Al Jazeera was arrested by Pakistani intelligence officers and handed over to the US military. He was then moved from one prison to the next ending up in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in June 2002.

Almost five years later Sami, like David Hicks, is yet to be officially charged. Prisoner 345 traces Sami al-Hajj's movements before and after his arrest and examines the way he's allegedly been treated by his jailers at Guantanamo Bay. The film is based on Sami's own unclassified letters, testimonies to his lawyer and eyewitness accounts from former Guantanamo Bay detainees.

Tune in tonight and get a glimpse of what we never hear or see about in the main stream news. Fascinating documentary, hard to comprehend on a basic human level, how we can let this happen. scary stuff, but if your not informed, you cant make the change.

Bill Hicks : Another Dead Hero

As the saying goes ... history repeats. one big loop.

For those unfamiliar with the late Bill Hicks, Bill was a comedian social commentator and critic through the 80s and 90s in the USA. more than that he was a voice for the truth. a voice for those who saw beyond the absurdities of the mass media and political systems of the times. he was a voice alone in demanding we all take a look at whats going on around us, get educated, and wake up. i've known about Bills work for many years but i happened to stumble onto some old footage the other day (linked below). from an early 93 interview. Bill goes onto many topics including the first Gulf War, The Middle East, GW Bush SNR, Corporate America, etc etc. i laughed with 20/20 hindsight. its moments like this that its clear we need another Mr Hicks for this generation. desperately. Bill released many works on cd and film, grab some if you can. Miguel, check out the JFK sketch video below.

"I was told when I grew up I could be anything I wanted: a fireman, a policeman, a doctor - even President, it seemed. But like so many kids brought up on a steady diet of Westerns, I always wanted to be the avenging cowboy hero—that lone voice in the wilderness, fighting corruption and evil, and standing for freedom, truth and justice. And in my heart of hearts I still track the remnants of that dream wherever I go, in my endless ride into the setting sun."
Bills Hicks.
(1961 - 1994)

Human History: an endless cycle as it seems. its only when we have such 20/20 hind sight that we look back at what's past and realise that it was just repeated last week. last month. last year, last century. we seem to forget the past and its mistakes, eager to just switch off, and repeat. 911 is just another JFK. they made us believe that "official patsy story". this time the truth is coming out, proof is there, its now up to the mass public to wake up. don't let it happen again. switch on. tune in. think for yourself. question authority.

Documentary on Bill Hicks

"The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: Is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "Hey – don't worry, don't be afraid ever, because this is just a ride." And we … kill those people. "Shut him up. We have a lot invested in this ride. Shut him up. Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and my family. This just has to be real." It's just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn't matter, because – it's just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money. A choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace."

The Black Keys !

BAND: The Black Keys
MEMBERS: Dan Auerbach (Guitar) Patrick Carney (Drums)
GENRE: Rockin Old School Blues. Dirty, Simple.

Fan of old music? like the old rockin blues of Zeppelin and Hendrix mixed with some deep fried southern chicken? look no further than The Black Keys!
returning to Perth for a show on May 14th, the boys are ready to rock. these guys just keep getting better with age, and from their bio, its a heart warming story of just how crap life can seem to be, yet if you have a dream, all you need to do is put in the effort and it will come true. i urge you all to check their music out, seeya at the show!

BIO:
Akron, Ohio, July 2002: Two young men, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, Akron natives and college dropouts the both of them, are working for a local property owner. Between them, they’ve got a truck, two lawnmowers and a weed-whacker and, like everybody else, a hustle and a dream.

In 2001, Dan had booked some time to record with his current band in Patrick’s primitive basement recording studio. When the group didn’t show, Dan and Patrick banged out the first Black Keys songs off the cuff. The demos recorded that serendipitous afternoon secured them a deal with Alive Records for their debut, The Big Come Up, and barely a year later, they’re sweating behind lawnmowers in the summer sun, looking forward to taking off in a busted hatchback the next week to see America on their first tour. The job is a vital component in the big picture. The plan is to work, save money, tour, come back to Akron, repeat. Humble rock dreams. So what do they do? They go and get themselves fired, that’s what they do. For not edging a lawn correctly.

Unemployment be damned, they blow Akron. Dan, quiet and wry, plays fuzzed-out guitar and sings, scratch that, howls sweetly and growls soulfully when he’s on stage, like a man whose only friends in the world are his songs of suffering and true romance and the guitar he plays them on. Patrick attacks his drums like they stole his mother’s purse. Dan and Patrick figure that if they spend almost every waking hour on their music, practicing, playing, touring, writing, and so on, they can make this enterprise work. So the boys get busy.

UFH ..... Erwin Wurm

A house has been 'dropped upside down' on the roof of the Viennese Museum of Modern Art. The art project, entitled House-Attack by top local sculptor Erwin Wurm, is supposed to look as if the house has fallen out of the sky and landed on the famous museum in the centre of the Austrian capital.

It actually took two cranes to put the huge sculpture into place, which is complete with a red roof, window boxes and a TV antenna.

The artist said his work was a statement against over-development.

Wurm said: "There are hundreds of thousands of houses and they are spreading like a plague, like a cancer across our land."... jez im glad he wasnt thinking about making a statement against land fills :) never the less its an awesome instalation, for simple eyepopping goodness.

Was listening to a few tunes this morning.

What the hell is going on eh. seems we might hit the ol tri fector of 40 Degrees C, 3 days in a row. *sips of an ice cool ice tea mun*
the only relief is the 2 hours before sunrise ... no sun, but the air seems to have cooled down just enough to breathe, just enough to open the doors and windows.

is this normal? what happens when we reach 3 days of 50 Degrees C. cant happen? really? and is this natural. ive heard alot in the last month or two about all this climate change drama and now it seems "cool" to push a clean and green theme onto anything that consumes energy. Formula 1, V8 Supercars, Sunrise, Coolaid. .. its now fashionable to be concerned.

piss's me right off, we've known about these issues of global warming for decades, and yet nothings been done. A. Gore was campaigning for change back in the 80s. one wonders if he came into power in 2000? (not sure on the election year) if it would have sparked a resurge in awareness.

i'll pose this as a look at the other side of the glass. what if, this is all just a cycle. a natural cycle. what if we cant control it. theres evidence out there for it, and i'll post on it later. until then we're all frogs in this slowly boiling pot ....

9/11 Truth Movement

A year ago i didn't know enough to start digging on the topics of the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks and building collapse. reflecting back now on our trip to NYC in SEP 2006, i wish we had of gone to ground zero, and opened our eyes and ears a bit. instead Mark and I just stayed away, concerned about the mass public turnout of the grieving community. we didnt want to be apart of that, but now i reflect and think we should have been apart of something bigger.

that "something bigger" was the emergence of the fight for the 9/11 Truth Movement. a gathering of the community and media, pushing through the lies and falsities, seeking answers to questions ... smoking guns that couldn't be hidden.

as we enter 2007, its becoming clear the coverups are starting to unwind and bit by bit the truth cant be hidden any longer. since day 0, Alex Jones and many like him have been at the forefront of this Truth Movement. they should be congratulated in a time where most americans simply believe the Official Story and never think to question the absurdities surrounding that day.

back to my point, i wish i had of made more of an effort to be there on SEP 11th 2006 at ground zero. i should have informed myself more before, i should have cared more, i should have been proud to walk around with other people asking questions, sharing stories, instead of being a typical tourist afraid of a crowd. maybe this will get others out there to start caring, start questioning, before it happens on your doorstep.

in the past weeks a good friend of mine here in Perth has passed me a few DVDs surrounding the 9/11 Truth Movement and other documentaries. titles including "911 Mysteries", "911 In Plane Site", "Loose Change - 2nd Edition" and the Alex Jones production "TerrorStorm". i'll be sure to pass them onto those who would like to check them out. in the mean time, drop your thoughts and comments, click the links and do abit of digging.

lastly a thought. if this 911attack was all orchestrated for an extreme reaction of fear , anger, and hatred. wouldn't the best way to do that be to ENSURE that the towers fell? rather then just the simple disaster of planes hitting buildings. someone once said to me, "This is the JFK assasination coverup of our generation". this time we are armed with open minds, factual evidence, free press outlets, and the will to question.

9/11 COVER-UP UNRAVELING

ALEX JONES: INFOWARS HOMEPAGE

Early this week an independent researcher, reviewing video archives of the BBC's 9/11 coverage, divulged the discovery of an earth shaking incongruence. BBC reporters announced the collapse of the 47 story Salomon Brothers Building 23 minutes BEFORE the actual sudden collapse . This building, also known as WTC 7, is clearly visible, standing tall, as a reporter gestures to the live view through the window behind her.

Blue or Red?

Experimentation has shown that the two different sides, or hemispheres, of the brain are responsible for different manners of thinking. The following table illustrates the differences between left-brain and right-brain thinking:

Left Brain
Right Brain
Logical
Sequential
Rational
Analytical
Objective
Looks at parts
Random
Intuitive
Holistic
Synthesizing
Subjective
Looks at wholes

Most individuals have a distinct preference for one of these styles of thinking. Some, however, are more whole-brained and equally adept at both modes. In general, schools tend to favor left-brain modes of thinking, while downplaying the right-brain ones. Left-brain scholastic subjects focus on logical thinking, analysis, and accuracy. Right-brained subjects, on the other hand, focus on aesthetics, feeling, and creativity.

NZ fishermen Capture Colossal Squid

WELLINGTON, New Zealand - A fishing crew has caught a colossal squid that could weigh a half-ton and prove to be the biggest specimen ever landed. The squid, weighing an estimated 450KG / 990 lbs and about 10M / 39 feet long, took two hours to land in Antarctic waters. The fishermen were catching Patagonian toothfish, sold under the name Chilean sea bass, south of New Zealand "and the squid was eating a hooked toothfish when it was hauled from the deep,"

Colossal squid can descend to 6,500 feet and are extremely active, aggressive hunters. The frozen squid will be transported to New Zealand's national museum, Te Papa, in the capital, Wellington, to be preserved for scientific study. Marine scientists "will be very interested in this amazing creature as it adds immeasurably to our understanding of the marine environment," - New Zealand Fisheries Minister Jim Anderton.

Posted out of pure Coolness factor :)
we know so little of what our deep oceans hold. it gives new thought to the "Kraken" myths of old sailors.

MUTE MATH

MUTE MATH

MEMBERS: Paul Meany (vocals/keys), Darren King (drums), Greg Hill (guitar), and Roy Mitchell-Cardenas (bass)
ALBUM: MUTE MATH - MUTE MATH (2006)

The four piece band (originating from New Orleans) has scattered influences that are apparent without being obvious, and touch on everything from DJ Shadow styled beats, moments of beauty and grandeur a la Bjork, and vocals that pay legitimate homage to Police-era Sting.

When asked about this vast expanse of musical territory that we are asked to find them dwelling within, Paul Meany (lead vocals) replied, "I blame it on the past forty years of music." They act on the idea that their magic is to be found in the mixture of countless thoughts. Their live show thrives on this random energy too involving homemade instruments, live sampling, a junked-out keytar, and enough dizzying energy to make the hardest cynics wet their pants. So, bring an extra pair if you have to, but don't miss them live. currently this band is no where to be found on Australian radio to my knowledge, but they are gaining in momentum in the US. trust me this one deserves a listen if your into funky, energetic rock n roll, not to mention post rock experimental musings. think ... the vocals of Sting with the rockiness of Feeder and the experimental angles of Explosions in The Sky. i found them through a random music download, they had a curious name, i grabbed the album, was blown away .... and i now own the album. proves music downloads work. sign me up for a tour, check out their myspace page for tunes and vids .... amazing energy, without being heavy or angry. great to see.

Nightmare

You ever have those dreams?
you know the ones. the ones that repeat. the ones you cant wait to wake from. the ones that leave you with a loss of time, the feeling of a ruined good nights sleep.
i got stuck in one recently. and it pops up every now and then.

the places may change, the circumstances, the times even, but the people and feelings remain the same. its almost a haunting where old enemies return, and your thrown back to the wall, left feeling like you cant escape. powerless to people you once faded into. grasping for courage, or the mask to fit into the circle again. in the real world theres no contact with these people, yet they creep into my subconscious some how without warning. its the strangest thing.

on another note....
UNI starts on Tuesday the 27th. looks like things will flow as mon / thur / fri @ HR, and tues / wed as full days of study. ive also got lectures on the thru and fri which im hoping to shuffle into my HR day. they only go for an hour.

maybe i'll bump into past enemies in the corridors? no masks this time round.

David Hicks

anyone catch "Insight" last night on SBS? theres a replay on Friday 23rd FEB around 7:30pm and Monday 2:30pm (check local guides) you should all check it out. This weeks discussion was on the David Hicks affair (the accused australian terrorist in Guantanamo Bay) and involved all parties being on camera, including his Father, Defense and Prosecution army representatives, and Australian Government Representatives. all round a great watch.

It was extremely alarming to watch, coming to the logical conclusion that our government condones the imprisonment of people for unknown crimes for a sentence of torture and solitude. hes accused of being a "terrorist threat" because he went to these so called "terrorist training camps" and was in Afghanistan through the Taliban era of early 2001, but has never fired a weapon in war and hasnt been proved to have killed anyone, or committed any injustice?

thats like saying its ok to lock me up for torture of 10years because ive "thought" about bopping Johnny (weasel) Howard over the head with a 6 pound cricket bat. imprisonment for things you havent yet done, but that they "assume you will carry out in the future". things you've read or written or thought about, but would never carry out. "1984 thought crimes" anyone? This War on Terror is a cover story. pull the curtains back people. read, investigate, question. make sure your votes count this time around.... both here and in the USA.

"So it's important for us that it's a widely accepted thing."

Waking up early, brain function hadnt kicked in yet, but i could swear i turned on the TV and saw an advertisement for 7 news or Today Tonight for tonight (friday 16th FEB) regarding an RFID payment system by swiping phones and credit cards past sensors, ie electronic money. check it out if you can.

it blew my mind as ive heard alot about RFID (radio frequency identification chips) being developed for future human use. we are so close to getting "chipped" for the convenience of shopping and identification. another method to control the mass public. scary stuff, this is a baby step to "introduce" the idea to people and get them comfortable and numb to the technology. same with the new National Australian ID cards about to be introduced with chips.

think ahead, your chipped in the future with an RFID chip smaller than a grain of rice (yes its actually factualy that size! and getting smaller to fit in vacines) containing all your bank and personal details etc. you buy a load of groceries and suddenly get to the counter and find youve been "disallowed service" due to .... technology breakdown?, or maybe the store doesnt accept shoppers who also "bank with the wrong bank" or "wear the wrong branded shoes", what do you do when you can't eat?, we are giving up all our liberties and freedoms without concern and questioning.

ISIS

"In the Absence of Truth, Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted"
Hassan-i-Sabbah

ISIS, a LA based prog metal band, who recently toured australia headlining gigs in all capitol cities. yes EVEN PERTH!.. crazy stuff. playing at the tiny indi Bar of the Amplifier, the roof was officially blown off many a time, as we were treated to a fantastic performance. considering the lead singer had a case of laryngitis they forged on complete the show undaunted.

I can safely say this is the second best gig of the year, and to those who couldnt get off their ass to see it you missed out BIG TIME. what a shame the little venue wasnt a tad bigger, to accommodate the larger stage presence of the band and their visual aids of backdrops and full lighting, as we saw in California. never the less we were all there for the music and well .... to put it simply, they gave it out in spades.
being heavily focused towards instrumental sections, extended song lengths, and being a "heavy band" in general, you would have thought the crowd was going to be raucous. but no this was an audience who respected each other. and didnt need to "mosh" to feel involved. a thinking man's metal crowd.

why am i mentioning this here? because ISIS follow an similar path to outspoken musicians such as Rage Against The Machine, TOOL, System of a Down, Sleater Kinney etc etc, who all push themes of Political Questioning and greater thinking. this isnt just music to "rock out to" its music to dig into. to go back over and ask, whats that all about? what are they talking about. whos this Hassan-i-Sabbah guy? what does Panopticon mean and how does it relate to the album themes and society today? Great band, great music. never compromising to fit a formula or top 40 radio set list. One to watch!
